Our History

1950s

1953 - RMD Press Company Pty Ltd is founded as a privately owned company primarily to supply pressed metal components to GUD a major supplier of oil filters.

1958 - RMD outgrows leased premises at Maribyrnong and acquires own premises at 9-10 Second Ave. Sunshine Victoria.

 

1960-80s

RMD grows dramatically acquiring a further 7 neighbouring properties.

1990s

1992 - RMD acquires Downee from the McPherson Group and transfers all operations to Melbourne.

1995 - RMD acquires Henderson (Australia) to break into the Sliding and Folding Door hardware market.

1996 - RMD acquires GJ Palmer & Son a NSW based distributor of gate and fence fittings and general hardware.

1996 - RMD acquires Syzygy decorative aluminium fencing products

1998 - RMD opens a Sales & Distribution division in QLD trading as RMD Metal Products.

 

 

2000-present

2001 - Commences trading on national basis as RMD Metal Products.

2006 - RMD acquires Pratco Industries Pty. Ltd, manufacturers of specialised blades and wear enhancement products for use in agriculture, mining and general ground-engaging industries.

2008 - RMD aquires B.J.Evans our agent in WA for Henderson and Downee products.

2009 – RMD introduces new HVAC business to the group – Ductware.
Ductware sells ducting hardware and accessories to the HVAC market.
Also an exclusive distributor of industry leaders Ductmate and Gripnail.
